DHS has a flexible path for students to freely choose either to follow compulsory national education or to study abroad. Today, let us learn about the multi-dimensional university pathways that DHS offers.
1st Pathway
Bilingual or Heritage Elementary
DHS-E pays attention to the whole-person development of both Bilingual and Heritage students. The small class of 24-30 people creates an exclusive personal learning plan for each child. The bilingual program equipped with a Chinese teacher and a foreign teacher, and the teaching content is comparable to that of international elementary schools. The Heritage Program not only consolidates the foundation of the national curriculum, but also attaches great importance to the development of students' thinking skills, focuses on cultivating students' comprehensive ability, and help students to have a head start in all fields.
2nd Pathway
DHS Heritage Middle School
Huamei School is led by the well-known national principal Zhou Jie and her faculty team. Principal Zhou was originally the principal of the Affiliated School of Dalian University of Technology and has been deeply involved in education for nearly 40 years.
Principal Zhou has participated in the proposition of the high school entrance examination several times. Many of her students were admitted to prestigious schools such as Tsinghua University and Peking University.
3rd Pathway
Bilingual Middle School
Families who are determined to go abroad choose DHS Bilingual Middle School, which can lay a solid foundation for studying abroad. More than 75% of Bilingual Middle School classes are taught in English, sharing teaching resources with the DAIS Middle School. The middle school curriculum is fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), and the high school diploma is globally recognized.
Students in the 10th grade can start taking AP courses. AP credits can be exchanged for college credits, which greatly reduces the cost of studying abroad.
4th Pathway
Bilingual and Heritage dual direction
Heritage Elementary Track students can choose the Bilingual Middle School. Bilingual Elementary track students can choose the Heritage Middle School.
5th Pathway
Heritage to American High School
After high school entrance examination, if Heritage students decide to go abroad, because of their familiarity with the school environment and their solid foundation in English, they will have an advantage over (external) students who apply for DHS Grade 10. The American high school program requires students to be fluent in English, because all subjects are taught in English except for Chinese courses.
With the multi-dimensional university pathways offered by DHS, parents do not need to consider many issues such as whether students adapt to the new school environment.
