DHS facilitates a challenging, collaborative, and responsive learning environment that develops student intellect, character, and health. At DHS, every learner strives to achieve personal excellence and contributes to the global community.

The principals and faculties gave out speeches:

Head of the ELA department, Mr. Reed hopes that graduates can treat others the way they want to be treated. “If you can listen to the voice inside that whispers of our shared humanity, that pleads for peace and respect— then I believe you’ll lead a life that makes the world a better place.”

ELA teacher Mrs. Armstrong: “Your time here has prepared you to take this next step in your lives and will allow you to pursue your dreams, whatever they may be. Whether it will be adding beauty to the world through your art, innovating solutions to global problems, or serving your local community, your time here has prepared you to make our world a better place.”

The Sea Dragon Award is awarded to the graduate who has most fully realized personal excellence and contributed to society and the community.  In addition, the recipient needs to actively participate in various activities organized by the school, fully challenge themselves academically, and demonstrate a good character and a sense of responsibility.

The Valedictorian Award is awarded to the student with the highest AP score and the highest cumulative GPA. Rachel Wang, DHS valedictorian this year, spoke on behalf of the graduates. This fall, she will be enrolled at the University of California-Davis.
