According to reports released by the Center for China and Globalization (CCG) , and report released by LinkedIn Big Data, China ranks top among countries of origin for international students, the most ideal destination for international students is still North America. For 2023 fall semester, a total of nearly 70,000 international students have submitted applications to American universities through CommonApp. Compared with the 40,000 people in the same period of the 2019-2020 application season before Covid, the number of applications has increased by 63%!
Through studying in Huamei, students not only receive admission letters from top universities but more importantly, they have the ability to study and live independently overseas or return to China and develop their own business. Let's take a look at some of our Huamei alumni and listen to their advices.
After graduating from Huamei, Yuze went on to study in the United States. He graduated from the California Institute of the Arts with a bachelor's degree in architecture; he finished his master's degree at the University of Pennsylvania. He is now working at EwingCole Architecture firm in New York, and is a young and passionate architect.

Yanqi went to study in the United States after graduating from Huamei. She holds an undergraduate degree in Sociology from the University of Connecticut with minors in Psychology and Women's Studies. She finished her postgraduate study in Sociology (Applied Quantitative Research Methods) from New York University. She is now working as an analyst at Kroll Bond Rating Agency.

After graduating from Huamei, Vivian entered the College of William and Mary in the United States, majoring in economics and minoring in mathematics. The College of William and Mary is the second oldest institution in the United States and is known as one of the public Ivy League schools. Vivian is currently working as Strategy Insights and Planning Associate at ZS Associates, a global management consulting firm in the healthcare industry.
I find my self well prepared when going into college. Huamei is very similar in terms of the system, class, interaction, etc.

After graduating from Huamei, Arnold entered Bentley University for undergraduate study. Bentley is a top business school in Boston and has a high reputation in the United States. After graduation, Arnold now works as a senior associate at PwC, one of the Big Four accounting firms in New York.
After graduating from Huamei three years ago, Damon entered Brandeis University in Boston, United States for undergraduate studies, majoring in business and economics, and minoring in East Asian culture.

Mark graduated from Huamei two years ago. He majors in Accounting and Finance at St. Edward University, ranking 8th among Regional West universities in the United States. Mark has now obtained the capital market and securities analyst qualifications, and is self-studying FRM (Financial Risk Manager) and CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) in his spare time.

They and the school system were supportive, gave me enough freedom, and did not overprotect me. DAIS would not over-intervene in my exploration process and would help me through the difficulty.”

Annie joined Dalian American International School in the 5th grade and graduated in 2018. During her time at the school, she was the President of the National Honors Society, Secretary General of the DAIS MUN, volleyball team captain, and soccer team co-captain, and she also played basketball andmade films.
Annie particularly enjoyed the school’s AP courses and has fond memories of her teachers andthe small classroom settings. Beyond the classroom, the athletic opportunities she enjoyed were inclusive and supported by great facilities. To her, the school’s tight-knit community was also a major benefit.
Since leaving DAIS in 2018, Annie has graduated from UC Berkeley with degrees in Mathematics, Economics, and Art History. In college, she discovered a passion for research,and she had an investigative paper on the city’s history published by the Berkeley Architectural Heritage Association. Outside of classes, Annie was elected as the 70th President of the Berkeley Model UN, and she continued her passion for filmmaking, team sports, and roadtripping across United States.
At the moment, Annie is interested in law, art, and cultural heritage. She aspires to have friends all over the world, and to have a place to stay everywhere she goes. To current/future students she says: “Your time in high school is what you make of it. Especially at DAIS, where everything you can think of is within arm’s reach”.
Shreya joined Dalian American International School in December 2006 when she was in 4th grade and stayed with the school through to her graduation in 2015.
She was a founding member of the school’s National Honor Society chapter and started aschool cafeteria lunch committee to better manage the trash sorting system. She also organisedenvironmental activities such as Earth Day, community beach-clean ups, outreach programs,and more. She was the student body president too, and organized social events in the year including prom, a lock-in, a beach day and a fashion show.
Shreya led community service and environmental projects and raised awareness about the environment not only in DAIS but in the wider Dalian community. She worked with the schoolboard to devise an “Energy Smart” solution to save electricity costs and connected DAIS with aWorld Economic Forum-formed NGO in 2013, which helped DAIS become a “Water Smart School”.
Outside of school, she composed and created an instrumental music album called “ARROYO” to raise awareness about the importance of rivers. Her music album was recognised by United Nations.
In her senior year, she was the student body president. She then went on to graduate from Duke University with a degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering. Since leaving DAIS, she has founded start-ups and now works in the FinTech industry as a Software Engineer. She envisions her future as leading a large-scale business and working oncutting-edge products in technology. She also aspires to continue participating and building a sustainable society.
Through our conversations with many graduates, we found that they are all proud of graduating from Huamei/DAIS, and believe that the school has helped them fully prepare for further studies with confidence, perseverance and global vision. We promise that whether it is language ability, academic level or character and social interaction, Huamei/DAIS graduates can seamlessly transition to study abroad independently.
