ACAMIS

ACAMIS

November 2-4 was the ACAMIS Volleyball held in Beijing hosted by BSB. As well as a high standard of competition it was wonderful to see our Sea Dragons interact with students from other schools on a trip that created great memories and a desire to enjoy more competitions to come. Our boys team found the tournament challenging but stuck together and progressed in their performance levels finishing 6th place. Our girls grew into the tournament, rounding out the pool play in 4th place and pushing their opponents all the way in the semi-final before going down in 2 extremely close sets. They responded to win the 3rd place match to come away with the bronze medal. Ein made the boys all-star team with Joy and Vivi making the girls all-star team.

This was followed on November 17 and 18 by Dmitry and Biel representing DAIS in the ACAMIS Table Tennis held hosted by Keystone Academy, Beijing. In the doubles competition, they were narrowly edged out in the pool stage. Out of 150 competitors Dimitry made it through the group stages reaching the round of 16, which was a great achievement given the level of competition.

We then moved on to ACAMIS Cross-Country hosted by LIS Chengdu. In the relay event, the team of Atticus, Ruby, Michael Ma with the assistance of a student from International School, Macao finished in 3rd place. On day 2, it seemed that the virus that has been making its way through the school, affected our runners with an 8th place for Atticus in the U14 event and 13th place for Michael Ma in the U19 were the high finishes. It speaks volumes for our athletes that despite not feeling 100% they were prepared to go out, compete and perform to the best of their abilities showing great resilience.
