TEACHER ORIENTATION

Our school's Chinese and foreign teachers have created a high-quality bilingual learning environment for students. At the same time, the school provides professional training for the faculty, career development opportunities, and aims to enable students to develop comprehensively in an excellent bilingual educational environment. 

In DHBS, Chinese teachers and foreign teachers learn from each other's strengths and jointly participate in professional skills training regularly. In 2022-23 school year, with the new addition of professional and experienced teachers, the faculty team started preparing for the new academic year starting from August 1. 

Teacher Orientation 

During the past two weeks, all teachers of the DAIS and Huamei Secondary School participated in a series of training sessions. The content covered the school's mission and vision, teaching goals for the new school year, wellbeing and safeguarding, curriculum content planning, teaching requirements, department responsibilities, and Chinese-Western cooperative teaching. At the same time, the school carried out team building activities to let teachers get to know each other better and quickly integrate into the team. From August 18th, teachers from the Bilingual and Heritage Department of DHBS Elementary will start a new round of training and preparations for the school year.    

Training sessions

The new teacher training also included special topic sessions, such as how to use the teaching management system, WASC (Western Association of Colleges and Schools) certification, school email addresses and the PowerSchool platform. Teachers also had group discussions by subject departments. 

Teachers have gained a lot from orientation, and they are actively preparing for the new semester right now. In the upcoming classroom teaching, they will make full use of the resources and platforms provided by the school, and constantly tap students' greatest potential, cultivate students' independent learning ability to become lifelong learners.
